Let’s Talk About The Mix!

So why is the rubber mix in your tire so important? There are several key technologies which set a good product apart from a “great” product … the mix is definitely one of them.Let’s talk about the mix!
The tread compound mix used in a tire helps determine how well it will perform under a variety of conditions. This is referring to performance based on ambient temperature or road conditions. If a tire becomes too hard in cold weather it will not flex and mold to the road surface. If the tire is too soft it may feel squirmy or unstable and most likely wear quickly.

The quality of the ingredients helps determine how well a tire will perform in winter conditions. Things like Silica are used to help keep the tire supple or flexible. The right amount of natural rubber is crucial, and of course we can’t forget nuts to help increase the grip.

I’m sure you would agree that Toyo has the ‘right’ mix but just as important is “dispersion”. This is where Toyo really stands out! The ingredients have to be mixed properly for maximum effect.

An example of this would be, say you want to bake a muffin. Even though you have the best tasting ingredients if the mixing technique is inferior someone biting into your creation may encounter a big clump of flour or salt ruining the experience. The same is true in a tire’s rubber compound. How accurately the ingredients are mixed or “dispersed” throughout the rubber has a definite impact on performance. This is where Toyo really stands out!

So the Mix is very important however it’s not only important to have the right stuff to mix in but the best techniques to mix them together ensures effective tire works the way it’s supposed to.

You can be sure that Toyo continues to be a leader in both these areas. Kind of makes you want to be part of the mix, doesn’t it?
